The New Seya Pro Beauty Case

When you're a mobile beauty team constantly on the go, you have to rely on your tools to get you there and make easy work of glamming up gorgeous girls all day.

Seya Makeup Case

We recently added the Seya Pro makeup case to our lineup of mobile kits in our team, so we thought we'd share a little review for anyone considering this brand, or for our brides at home who just never meet a lipstick they didn't love and want a more organized way to store it all in a limited amount of space.

There's a saying that you can never buy a big enough case, but this baby just might bend that mold a bit.

IMG_7690.jpg

For our team members who do both hair and makeup, it was able to hold everything!

Stackable makeup case

From hot tools (curling irons, flat irons, curling wands) and hair products (hair spray of various holds, pins and elastics and clips of all kinds), to all manner of palettes, powders, brushes, blenders, paint pots, moisturizers, foundations, pencils, and lip products of all shades.

It has 3 top removable sections with hard shells that can be stacked on top of one another and locked down to build up to the desired height and capacity.

Each section locks and the case comes with two keys so you can keep your products safe (or, if nothing else, keep the locks from ever coming accidentally undone while getting jostled about.

The shallow top divider section holds low-profile items and fits under the lid on the top section.

IMG_7689.jpg

There is also a slightly smaller sub-section that came with it's own carrying bag that nestles down into the large lower portion of the case on top of two metal "lips" that it rests on inside the big bottom section.  It is not visible from the outside as a fourth section, but sort of "cradles" within as another spot to divide up various items.

IMG_7693.jpg

The large bottom section has interior elastic loops to keep your upright products in place, and is quite expansive, suitable for arranging plastic containers of various shapes and sizes.

IMG_7694.jpg

First impressions were good.  The case itself is sturdy and the vinyl finish has a somewhat matte-finish appearance, but wiped off easily when product got on it.  We really like the two-tone black-on-black appearance.  It looks sleek and professional and doesn't add any unnecessary distractions in the background if it does happen to show up in the wedding photos during the getting-ready shots.

IMG_7564.jpg
Seya handle

The handle has a somewhat "grippy" feel but isn't totally rubberized, so it doesn't "pull" on your hand when rolling it around or picking it up.

The only negatives were that it did have somewhat of a "chemical-y" smell straight out of the packaging.

We had to let it air out a bit, and wiped it down with soapy water to tone down the strange smell.  It wasn't so bad that it affected an entire room, but it was definitely noticeable up close.

IMG_7691.jpg

And while we were expecting somewhat of a "nesting" effect when stacking the blocks on top of each other, the sections actually just hover edge-to-edge, so you have to be careful when stacking them back together, lest you mis-thread the bottom of one with the top of another and your side latch doesn't match up exactly.  If we could change one thing about the design of this, it would be for those sections to "snap" smartly together so you didn't have to fumble with them - especially when in a hurry!

IMG_7565.jpg

The retractable handle is reminiscent of a suitcase handle, though admittedly not as robust.  While it has so far done the job a few weeks in as of this review, it has a teeny bit of "flex" in it when the case it fully loaded (which...let's just be real...when will it ever NOT be full?), so it did leave us to wonder how long until the handle would have to be replaced.  Good news is the case does come with a warranty!

IMG_7692.jpg

Also in keeping with the "rollerboard bag" design, are the four multi-directional wheels, allowing the case to be wheeled perpendicular to the ground.

wheels.jpg

This might seem like a small thing, but with our arms usually full of tables, foldable makeup chairs, mirrors, cell phones, wedding schedules, and any other manner of tote-able items, it is nice to have "one lest thing" pulling down on our arms.

It can be scooted alongside while traipsing down hotel corridors and rolling up resort driveways.

Seya case wheels

The dividers in each section are a rigid plastic or very dense fiberboard material with rubber "bumpers" that hold everything in place.  The "bumpers" also serve as divider channels so you can move the dividers around in any configuration you want.  While they are pre-cut to size, we never found ourselves wanting of a different length in the customization process.

Seya makeup case dividers
Seya foam lipstick hole divider

There is also a foam panel with holes in it of variable depths, so you can insert lipsticks or nail polish for easy transport.  We tend to use lip palettes and liners, so this wasn't as practical for us, but we could see it being really useful for a nail technician.

At full capacity, the case does get quite heavy, especially with the Temptu Airbrush compressor, so one idea was that the case could be split into two sections for hauling up stairs.

detail of case.jpg

The only bummer was, it only comes with one lid, which would thus leave the bottom section exposed on top.  This was actually an easy problem to solve, however, as a quick call to Seya found that we could special order a second lid at an affordable rate, and they shipped it out to us for this purpose.

Overall, we're happy with the new addition.  Look for it during YOUR Florida Keys wedding!

Favorite Products!

I was recently “tasked” by our Glam-expert, Kim, to put some of her favorite summer products to the test.  These must-have beauty essentials are sure to get your skin looking fresh and clean this summer.  Think of all the damage you take in on a daily basis?  You take the time to brush and floss, now why not spend some time taking care of your skin?  It is the only one you get! Glam-Glow-BrightMud-Eye-Treatment

GLAMGLOW Unit

Let’s start with my favorite…the GlamGlow masks!  These masks are incredible!  I got to try the BrightMud, YouthMask, and the ThirtsyMud.  Let me tell you how great these products are, extremely refreshing on your face, while really tightening the pores, all with a gently exfoliation.  You can actually see the oil pulling out as the mask dries…Love this product!  I especially enjoyed the little tingle from the YouthMask.

Dermashine-Cream

The Dermashine body creams are also magnificent!  They’re made with drops of vitamins A, C, and E that will gently burst as you apply to your skin, providing a deep hyrdrations and lovely scent!  These creams are perfect for everyday use, especially those rough spots like elbows and heels.  If you are looking to reduce dryness and love sweet scents like Strawberry and Acai or Peach and Pomegranate – give these a try!

I have naturally straight hair, so I gave this next product to a friend to try that could find it useful…Aveda’s Smooth Infusion.  It is a great product that protects the hair and “makes it feel like you just left the salon.” This is a great staple for your everyday hair straightening regime.  You can buy the whole suite of shampoo, conditioner, and gloss.  Protects your hair from heat and is made by Aveda, two great “wins” in my book!

Now onto another product I could benefit from, the Agadir Moisture Masque!  This moisture mask really does deliver! It makes a difference by helping hair look healthier and shinier.  Its ultra-rich, deep conditioning masque moisturizes while repairing damaged hair.  It also is supposed to help prevent future damage.  Love it!

Jane Iredale Dream Tint SPF 15 Moisture Tint is a mineral-based formula to hydrate, protect and cover up to smooth out complexion imperfections, including large pores, fine lines and discoloration. Algae extract soothes and keeps your skin soft while jojoba oil shields against free-radical damage that can cause premature aging.   If you love a sun-kissed glow without caking on make-up, this is the stuff for you!  This product has a light feel on my skin which is great for hot, humid weather, like the Keys!  It will give your skin a wonderful look and feel without looking like you have on makeup.

So, have you personally tried any of these great products?  If so, what are your favorites/reviews?  If not, we recommend you get started!

Hope our Glam Tips help you this summer to look young, fresh, and FAB!

Beauty Tip Thursday-Spray Tan Tips

Last month, we had the pleasure to visit with one of our favorite Glam Squad members, Victoria, for a spray tan session.  We figured that since we regularly suggest this service to our brides, that we should experience it for ourselves first-hand.  After a quick session with Victoria, our skin was golden and beautifully sun-kissed, not the orange, cheeto look that many people associate with spray tanning and made famous by the cast of 'The Jersey Shore' or on 'Bride Wars.'

In order to achieve the best results for the perfect, even spray tan that will last (about 5-7 days, maybe more), please follow these helpful tips for before and after your session!

First, a little background.  Spray tanning is the future of the tanning business.  Unlike sun bathing and tanning beds, which are unsafe because they expose your skin to ultraviolet radiation, spray tanning involves dyes, which are sprayed directly on the skin.  Spray tanning is the safest alternative to sunbathing.

Tip #1: See a professional!  One of the best things about going to see Victoria was that she was able to determine our natural skin tone and decide which shade of tan and the amount of spray that worked best for us.  Many times, when you use an automated machine, the color can be too dark (or not enough) and you can risk getting caught in an awkward position over and over again if you are not ready or paying attention, ala Ross on 'Friends.'

Tip#2: Exfoliate, Exfoliate, Exfoliate!  This is very important and will help you achieve the best results.  Exfoliation should be done prior to your spray tanning session.  Simply take a loofah or natural sponge along with some light exfoliating body wash or scrub and exfoliate your entire body while in the shower or bath.  Pay careful attention to the dry areas (i.e. elbows, knees, feet, etc.).  This helps to remove the dead skin cells, resulting in a longer, more even tan.  It is also helpful to shower before the session to remove any oils, lotions, sweat, deodorant, cosmetics, etc.

Tip #3: Wear loose, comfortable clothes.  It is important to be comfortable during your session.  We suggest wearing light, comfortable clothing (sundress, romper, etc.) in a darker color over whatever you are going to wear for the session.  When we went, we wore cute panties or a thong (depending on your tan lines wanted) and no bra, but many people wear a bathing suit or something similar.  It is up to you and whatever you feel most comfortable in.  Also, remove any jewelry, shoes, watches, etc before your session.  Anything touching the skin will result in patches on the skin and an uneven tan.  Remember, that is is best if you avoid tight-fitting clothing for 8-12 hours after your session so that your tan can fully develop.  Keep this mind when determining what to wear to your appointment (both to the appointment and underneath).

Tip #4: Let it dry!  Make sure you air-dry for about 5-10 minutes before putting your clothes back on.   Take a look at your body to check whether the dye is applied evenly or not. Wipe off the excess dye. Try to go home directly from the salon and avoid strenuous activities that cause sweating, which can affect the tan.

Tip #5: Avoid bathing or showering for 8-12 hours.  The best advice we can give after your session is to take a warm (not hot) bath and lightly, we repeat lightly, wash yourself with a soft washcloth.  This will help even out the tan and also help remove any over -spray from certain areas that may look darker than others (face, feet, arms).  A little bit of color may come off during the first bath after the spray tanning session. Spray tanning tips include avoidance of hot water, loofah, soap and exfoliants, during the first bath after tanning (It will be better, if you avoid these things for a few more days).  Also, remember to lightly pat yourself dry after the first bath.  it helps extends the life of the tan.

Tip #6: Enjoy your new glow!  Like we mentioned, by following these few simple tips, our tans lasted about 8 days.  It is important to keep your body hydrated and moisturized as well.  Repeated sessions will help to give you a more permanent tan.

If you are interested in booking a spray tan for your wedding or upcoming event or if you would like to see see what the excitement is all about us, send us an email (beautyboutique@comcast.net) and we will be happy to schedule one for you.  Remember, we are completely mobile, so we can come right to you.

Have a great week and until our next Beauty Tip Thursday, remember to live beautifully!

Top 10 Wedding Beauty Tips-Part 1 of 2

Wedding season is right around the corner so we thought we would devote the next two weeks of our Beauty Tip Thursday blog posts to our Top 10 Wedding Beauty Tips.  Drum roll please... 1. Don't skimp on the high-quality makeup.  In the Florida humidity, you cannot go wrong with airbrush makeup.  We use Temptu, which is silicone based and is waterproof and sweat-proof.  Our brides look flawless all day and all night.

2. Use a Primer for your foundation & eyeshadow. It will give you the long lasting wear and flawless finish.  It also makes your eyeshadow pop!

3. Waterproof mascara & eye liner to not only shield you from zombie bride, but for a lasting wear throughout the night.  We love the Smashbox Jet Set Waterproof Eye Liner and the Sephora Collection's Atomic Volume Mascara.  Check out our post on Kim's favorites products for more info.

4. Avoid Glitter and Shimmer- It looks oily on camera! It also can cause reflections, resulting in white spots in photos.  We love using matte highlighter for cheek and brow bones. If you are going for an evening look with a smokey eye, your shimmer colors will still reflect on camera, and shimmer/glitter tends to migrate. If it’s something you absolutely want, you can use a pearl eyeshadow, which is a good mix between matte & shimmer without over doing it.

5. Set Your Makeup with loose powder. It will remove shine on the face for photos & in person. A light mist of hairspray also works well...we know it sounds crazy, but it works.  After attending an event this past weekend where everyone was sweating and their makeup was running, we kept getting compliments on how flawless our makeup looked!

Be sure to check back next week for second part of our Top 10 Wedding Beauty Tips.  Until then, remember to live beautifully!

Have a great weekend!

Kim's Favorite Products

Our head beauty planner and all around beauty guru, Kim Arencibia, is revealing what's in her beauty bag by sharing a few of  her favorite beauty products.

First up...Smashbox Jet Set Waterproof Eye Liner.  "This item is a must have for anyone who wants to line and define their eyes the easy way" says Kim. " This gel formula glides on without pulling or tugging and  lasts all day.  It is the perfect eye liner for brides in the warm, Florida weather because it dries quickly, does not smudge, will not sweat off and it literally, lasts all night long!  You can even swim with it on."  It is the perfect complement to both natural and faux eyelashes.  It comes in a variety of colors (black, bronze, navy blue, midnight purple), but Kim's favorite is the Midnight Black.  The .10 oz container will cost you $22 but will last you at least 6 months, if not longer.

The next item in Kim's beauty bag is Sephora Collection's Atomic Volume Mascara.  After trying many, many, many mascaras, Kim has discovered her absolute favorite that she not only uses for her clients, but also herself. "Atomic Volume is amazing!  It gives mega-volume to even the limpest lashes.  The best part is, the longer you use it, the more conditioned and stunning your lashes will become."  The tubular brush applicator also helps to lengthen and separate your lashes for a full-sexy flutter.  The best part of this product is the price...$15 for a .5 oz tube.

Since we are on the topic of eyes, let's talk eyebrows.  "Your eyebrows are the framework of your face and for that reason, they are an important part of your beauty regimen.  It's important to not over-pluck your brows because over time, the hair shafts are not stimulated, causing hair not to grow as fast or at all.  If you are a product of over-plucking, there is an answer.  One of my favorite products of all time is brow stencils and powder from Cristina Cosmetics.  I have been using this product for many years and I can't begin to tell you the difference it makes.  Unlike brow pencils, stencils and powders give a more natural look.  Unfortunately, I can't find the Cristina Cosmetics product anymore, but after a quick search online, I stumbled on two great products."   The first is from Anastasia Beverly Hills.  According to Kim, "Anastasia's Classic Stencils is the closest thing I have found to the ones from Cristina Cosmetics.  They are great quality and durable, so they can be used over and over again.  This stencil kit comes with 5 stencils for $20.  You can buy the brow powder separately or use one that you already have."   The other product  is Too Faced Brow Envy Brow Shaping and Defining Kit.  This kit comes with three stencils, brow powder in Blonde and Brunette, brow wax and a highlighting powder as well as brushes, tweezers and a step-by-step guide for $35.  The best thing about this kit is that it is compact enough to fit into your makeup bag.

Kim doesn't just have favorite makeup products. She also has tons of favorite hair products as well.  Her absolute favorite hair product right now  is Osis Dust It Mattifying Powder by Schwarzkopf.  "This multipurpose product works wonders, especially on fine hair.  It is the perfect product for not only soaking up moisture (i.e. sweat, grease), but also for adding volume and texture.  Simply sprinkle on the underside of your hair, at the nape of your neck, as well as a light sprinkle at the roots (on dry hair) and then give a rough "massage" with your fingers to work product in.  This is important so that your hair doesn't appear too white. Then flip hair over and style as usual.  You can also sprinkle on your palms and rub together, then rake your hands through your hair for texture and light separation.  If you live in Florida, or anywhere where it is hot, this product is a must-have for you!"   The .35 oz. bottle is typically under $15.

We hope that you take Kim's advice and check out and invest in some, if not all, of these products.  You won't be sorry!  Look for more beauty tips and favorite products from Kim and the entire Glam Squad coming soon to The Beauty Insider.
